Results of Long-term Two Run Branch Study
Mean Seasonal Dissolved Oxygen Concentrations, 1988 - 2010. High DO levels occurred in winter and lower levels in summer. (Box plots show mean, sd, and outliers). DO levels rarely dropped below 5 mg/l, the minimum concentration for aquatic organisms.
Nitrate concentrations remained fairly stable throughout the sampling period. The majority of measurements showed nitrate concentrations below the acceptable level of 1 mg/l. The sources of non-point pollution that impact this stream originate from septic tanks, agricultural runoff and atmospheric deposition.
