Intern Openings

Summer 2010 Internships at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary are available.

The Sanctuary has openings for three university student interns for summer 2010. Two Research Interns will work on ecological research studies and one Education Intern will teach and assist with the environmental education programs. All interns will assist the Sanctuary staff with on-going studies and educational programs. These three positions are open to university students, generally at the junior or senior level. Student interns gain valuable experience while helping with a wide variety of projects. Interns will teach and lead field trips; collect field data; interact with other students; explore wetlands on foot and by boat; work long hours; and will get to know scientists, educators, researchers, and adult volunteers who work at the Sanctuary. Interns also make presentations to audiences of different ages and backgrounds, where they will discuss the ecological principles, natural history, and environmental issues that they are exploring and learning about.

Each student receives a stipend of $3,600. Stipend awards (called the Jug Bay Fellowship) are provided by the Friends of Jug Bay.
