Swamp A wetland that has trees growing in it is called a swamp. Because JBWS swamps have mostly small trees and shrubs it is often called a Scrub-Shrub wetland. Alders are typical Scrub-Shrub plants.

Dry Swamp the same swamp in the summer is dry. This type of wetland is called a seasonal or vernal wetland.
