Notice to Hikers During Hunting Season

During deer hunting season we recommend that hikers wear fluorescent orange if they plan to hike along the Beech and Forest Trails.

There is no hunting on Sanctuary property, but there may be hunters on adjacent private property.

Dates of 2007-2008 Deer Hunting Season

BOW: Sept. 15 - Oct. 17; Oct. 22 - Nov. 23; Dec. 10 - Dec. 14; Dec. 31 - Jan. 3; Jan. 7 - Jan. 31

FIREARMS: Nov. 24 - Dec. 8; Jan 4 - Jan. 5

MUZZLELOADER: Dec. 15 - Dec. 29

A Few Other State Regulations About Deer Hunting

Sunday Hunting: A person may hunt deer on Sunday, November 4, 2007 and Sunday, November 25, 2007 on private land in Allegany, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Cecil, Charles, Garrett, Kent, Montgomery, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties.

Hunting Hours: One half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset.

Baiting Deer is legal, except on state-owned or state-controlled properties.
