Scheduling Policies

Every field trip is planned and developed for your class. Our outdoor programs are designed to complement your science and environmental curriculums and provide hands-on experiences for your students. Our goal is to integrate your field trip with the science curriculum that your children are receiving at the time and to correlate field trip activities to MSPAP outcomes and High School Core Learning Goals. We strive to provide activities that enhance and expand on the material that children are learning in the classroom.

To apply for a field trip date fill out the application completely. Part C of the Field Trip Application and copies of your curriculum will assist us in developing your field trip. We will be happy to help you to complete the form, although we can not guarantee accommodating all applications.

Because of the demand for Classrooms in the Field trips, we give priority to teachers who:

  • demonstrate a link between the field trip and their environmental curriculum
  • have brought students to Jug Bay for field trips in the past
  • have attended or plan to attend a planning workshop at the Sanctuary

Please cross out any school holidays, closings and testing dates that would preclude field trips on the application calendar. Circle any preferred dates. We will make every effort to accommodate your request, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee specific dates.

  • If an entire grade is requesting a field trip, each class usually requires a separate date. Every teacher must complete a form for his or her class. Please mail all forms from one grade or school together with any supporting curriculum information. If your school is accepted for the season, we will schedule all classes.
  • Teachers may be required to attend a planning session at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary.
  • Our Fall season runs September though November: Priority Deadline in late May.
  • Our Spring season runs March though May. Priority Deadline in early December.
  • Winter and Summer programs can be arranged.

    PRICING INFORMATION

    • $2.00 per student, chaperones free. Maximum* 30 students. On a case-by-case basis, we can accommodate up to 45 students. Do not mail payment with application form. Please plan on one chaperone for every six students.  Canoeing: Students must be in at least 8th grade. Maximum number for canoe trips 16 students,; one chaperone for every 8 students. Fee: $10 per person
